LIVING WATER PT. 2: HOW DO I DRINK IT?

LIVING WATER PT. 2: HOW DO I DRINK IT?

““Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk Without money and without price.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Everyone who thirsts!

First you must be thirsty lol! The invitation goes out to any and everyone who thirsts! If you know you‘ve been searching for something more, longing for something, seeking God and trying to find Him then He is calling you.

“Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Deep is another word for sea. We see it used in Genesis 1 where the Holy Spirit is hovering over the face of the “deep”.

“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So Psalms 42 is simply saying the noise of the waterfall is the ocean calling to the ocean. However, this means much more.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:9-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This scripture tells us that the Spirit of God searches the deep things of God and that only a man‘s spirit knows that man’s “deep” things. Simply put, no one can read your mind or know your thoughts, motives, desires etc that are stored inside of you but you…and of course God lol.

Just as the ocean is deep and contains many things, so is our spirit. Just as deep calls to deep at the noise of a waterfall, God’s Spirit calls to our spirit.

“He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end.”

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

He has set that longing for Him in our hearts, in our spirits and it calls out to God and His Spirit calls back out to us. Many times that desire leads us to false gods. To tarot cards and palm readings, to crystals and meditation, to chakras and other mediators that falsely advertise their ability to connect us to God. But the Bible makes it clear that there is only one who truly mediates this.

“For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus tells us Himself.

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So we must come! We discovered in the first blog that we need not do any work! And in this blog we started with the scripture in Isaiah that says come, you who have no money! To get money you have to work! But you don‘t need money! You just need to come!

Going back to 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 linked above, we see that it says we have been given this Spirit! This is the same Spirit that Jesus is referring to in John when He says out of their belly will flow springs of living water. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the deep of God, is given to us to live in us, in our spirit (called “belly” in John 7:38).

Strong's Definitions: κοιλίαkoilía, koy-lee'-ah; from κοῖλος koîlos ("hollow"); a cavity, i.e. (especially) the abdomen; by implication, the matrix; figuratively, the heart:—belly, womb.

This is the deepest part of us…this is where the living water comes to fill and flow. A cavity is empty and the Lord gives us living water to fill it.

“As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

How do I drink it though?

Abandon the broken cisterns (refer to first blog) and talk to the Lord. It really depends where you are in your journey and what your broken cisterns are. Whatever it is, He has the answer, so talk to Him, journal it if you have to! But repent for forsaking Him and ask Him to lead you to His still, but living waters to refresh your soul instead of that other source.

If you have not already accepted the sacrifice of Jesus on your behalf then that is your first step. Read Romans, the whole book! Chapter 10 verse 9-10 tells you how you can accept Jesus.
